Questions

What is a birth chart?

A birth chart is a snapshot of exactly where the sun, moon, and planets sat in the sky at the moment and place you were born. It's computed from your birth date, time, and location, then mapped onto the twelve zodiac signs and twelve houses. Nothing about it is predictive, it's a map of positions, not a fortune.

Why does birth time matter?

Your birth time determines your rising sign (the sign on the eastern horizon at your birth moment) and your houses, the twelve life areas your planets fall into. The sun and moon signs barely move in a day, so those stay accurate even without an exact time. Rising and houses shift roughly every two hours, so they need the real minute.

What if I don't know my exact birth time?

You can still get an accurate chart. Check the box for unknown birth time and we'll compute everything except your rising sign and houses, since those require the real minute to be honest. We'd rather leave a gap than show you a guess dressed up as a fact.

How accurate is this calculator?

It runs on astronomy-engine, a high-precision ephemeris library, checked against Swiss Ephemeris (the industry standard) to under one arcminute of difference. That's professional-grade accuracy, the same math used by paid astrology software.

Is it free?

Yes. The whole chart is computed in your browser, no account and no payment required. We only ask for an email if you want your reading sent to you later.
